While employment opportunities were bringing our family to the Bay Area 27 years ago, Sunol Glen School was the beacon that guided us to Sunol to raise our children. I am still amazed to have found such a unique setting - a small town with a small, high- performing school where everyone knows your child's name and helps your child succeed. Our daughters attended K-8 here, and received an exceptional education. My parents were a middle and high school teacher and a college professor, so learning and quality education have been core family values with K-8 setting the critical groundwork for future success.
As Sunol Glen looks toward its next 100 years, I am running for the Sunol Glen School Board to build on the efforts of generations of educators and Sunolians who have shaped Sunol Glen, preserve what makes our school unique, and strengthen the foundation that keeps our school exceptional and independent.
I bring to the School Board my strong business and technology experience of 34 years at a Fortune 10 company developing governance processes that focus limited resources on top priorities and turn plans into results. This was accomplished by developing company level investment strategies and the project portfolios to achieve them, integrating portfolios with operations to create annual business plans, and benchmarking implementation. This discipline, and my MBA and MS in Computer Science, directly support school board responsibilities. Degrees in Earthquake Seismology, Marine Geophysics, and Geology further prepare me for facilities and safety oversight.
I feel strongly about giving back to the community that has meant so much to me and my family. My current service work is as Treasurer of the Kilkare Woods Association where I've grown reserves and built multi-year asset plans. I've also become a trusted advocate for a disabled friend's business affairs. I respectfully ask for your vote for Sunol Glen School Board.
